European Hair Research Society
EEAHRS - is the Eastern Europe and Asia Hair Research Society, is a friendly association integrated into the global family of hair research communities.
The development of medicine on the territory of Eastern Europe and Asia, took place in close contact with world science, however, it developed in its own, fundamentally different clinical direction. The territory, which has long traditions and its own unique medical schools, has given the world such outstanding scientists as Ilya Mechnikov, Sergey Botkin, Grigory Zakharyin, Nikolay Pirogov, Aleksey Polotebnov, Rafail Sinelnikov, Stefania Yablonskaya, Lubov Shetsiruli, Nikolai Amosov, who became the founders of modern medicine and received worldwide recognition.
The responsible task of future generations is to preserve and enhance the great heritage, as well as to make their own contribution to the development of modern medicine, especially to its innovative areas, which include the young, rapidly developing science of hair, and which specialists from different fields on all continents of the planet are keen on today.
Thanks to the contributions of a generation of clinicians and fundamental scientists interested in the study of hair, the opportunities provided by molecular biology and innovative technologies, the process of updating knowledge about the biology of hair and its pathological conditions is ongoing and at a high rate. Around the world, enthusiastic biologists and dermatologists have created and are actively developing hair research societies - the European Hair Research Society (EHRS), the American Hair Research Society (AHRS), the Australian Hair and Wool Research Society (AHWRS), the Indian Hair Research Society (IHRS). Korean Hair Research Society (KHRS), Society for Hair Science Research (SHSR).

The idea of creating the Eastern Europe and Asia Hair Research Society (EEAHRS) arose in 2016, during the preparation and holding of the 17th Congress EHRS in Tbilisi, which was organized by representatives of Eastern European Trichology - Georgian (GHRS) and Ukrainian (UHRS) Hair Research Societies. EHRS2016 was the very consolidating meeting in which, for the first time, at such a high organizational level, an unprecedented large number of specialists from Eastern Europe and Asia gathered, interested in the development of hair science.
In subsequent years, a number of consolidating events were held, where the idea of creating EEAHRS was fully formed and was further developed (Kyiv UHRS2017, organization of tours for specialists from Eastern Europe and Asia to participate in the World Congress of Trichoscopy (WCT2018), Warsaw 2018, EHRS2018, Bologna, holding Congress UHRS2019 in Kyiv http://www.trichologycongress.com.ua , in which delegates from 23 countries took an active part, 14 of which are representatives of Eastern Europe and Asia. The society received the status of an officially registered organization in 2019 and today includes specialists from Poland, Ukraine, Georgia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Lithuania, Latvia, Moldova and Uzbekistan.
Such a huge geographic region as Eastern Europe and Asia has endless intellectual, professional and personal potential for studying the biology and pathology of the hair follicle, conducting original research and participating in international multicenter scientific and clinical projects. The generalization of the rich experience of the Eastern European clinical school is of great interest and is of great scientific, and even socio-cultural significance.
Today, the EEAHRS team holds joint meetings with friendly professional associations on an ongoing basis to discuss scientific and clinical advances in genetics, immunology, neurobiology, psychosomatics, diagnostic technologies, pharmacology, transplant surgery, stem cell applications and tissue culture technology. At the same time, the indisputable advantages of such a collaboration are the possibility of expanding the geographic range of fundamental and clinical studies of hair.
We are convinced that the unification of specialists in a single information space will make it possible to implement the achievements obtained in the course of scientific research and contribute to the active implementation of modern methods of diagnosis and treatment of patients with trichopathology in daily clinical practice.
With respect to the value and uniqueness of the experience of each specialist, we invite you to join the exciting process of studying hair and make your personal professional contribution to the development of young science.

The development of hair research societies has more than 30 years of history, which is famous for its achievements in the field of hair follicle research. It is one of the most ideal mini-organs in the study of the main biological tasks of other organs and systems, and discoveries in this area have a significant impact on many areas of medicine. Notable scientific advances include the identification of HF stem cells, the development of the concept of HF immune privilege, methods for reconstructing HF in vivo, and a more in-depth study of the pathophysiology of trichopathology, leading to the emergence of new therapeutic approaches.
To a large extent, these discoveries are the result of collaborative work by recognized hair research communities - the pioneer of hair science, the European Hair Research Society (EHRS, 1989), the American Hair Research Society (AHRS, 1990), the Society of Hair Science Research of Japan (SHSR, 1993) , Austro-Asian Hair and Wool Research Society (AAHWRS, 1995), Korean Hair Research Society (KHRS, 1998), which together represent the International Federation of Hair Research Societies (IFHRS). Thanks to programs to promote and fund research in the field of hair diseases, encourage collaboration between researchers, mentorship and grants for young researchers and popularize the knowledge gained at conferences, especially at world congresses, this field of medicine has developed rapidly, and important scientific advances in trichology have been recognized outside the discipline of hair research.
The European Hair Research Society (EHRS) is a initiator in hair science and is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2019. Dominique van Neste organized the first EHRS meeting in Brussels, and its first President, Rodney Dauber, encouraged both clinical research and the study of hair fibers.
The initiators in the development of trichobiology, Colin Yagoda and Roy Oliver, showed the importance of the dermal papilla in hair regeneration, the study of which is still a popular area of innovation around the world.
The American Hair Research Society (AHRS), initiated by 13 dermatological founders in 1990, is dedicated to furthering hair research. Whiting's work included scalp biopsy extraction in the diagnosis of trichopathologists, and stem cell biopsy research was "borrowed" from WF after the discovery of WFem by Kotsarelis in the early 1990s, which led to the reaching of skin stem cells.
The Society for Hair Science Research of Japan (SHSR, 1993), founded by Hideoki Ogawa, has fostered active international collaboration and exchange of research results since its inception, with an emphasis on developing approaches to the treatment of trichopathologies by studying the potential of dermal papilla cells in regenerative medicine.
The Austro-Asian Hair and Wool Research Society (AAHWRS, 1995), founded by Rodney Sinclair, George Rogers and Lee Jones, inspired by the growth and commercial importance of wool production in Australia and New Zealand, originally contributed to the understanding of fiber structure and texture, and provides early research. in the field of follicle biology.
The Korean Hair Research Society (KHRS, 1998), founded by dermatologist Byung In Ro, was originally part of the Korea Dermatological Association and later became an independent society in 2004. Since WCHR2014 in Jeju under the leadership of Won Soo Li, KHRS has a global impact and is also driving advances in clinical methods for assessing androgenetic alopecia, relevant in Southeast Asia.
Ukrainian Hair Research Society (UHRS), founded in 2016, with the main mission of integrating specialists from the Eastern European region into the global trichological society.
Due to its geographical location and historical traditions, Ukraine is a bridge between East and West. UHRS continues this centuries-old tradition and plays the role of consolidating professional trichological societies. Ukraine was the first of the post-Soviet countries to be honored to represent the national professional community on the EHRS Council and not only opened the door for post-Soviet specialists, but also initiated a permanent representation on the EHRS Council.
